I've been lazy. That's my only excuse for not updating our blog in more than two months (check our Twitter feed though (@Syzygy3) - we've been consistent there).
The east coast earthquake - I'm glad to say I felt it - has inspired me to write (albeit briefly).
1. Great job by Twitter and LinkedIn users - news spread, real reactions, and links to legitimate (and snarky) news were distributed; social media lived up to its billing
2. Poor job by cell carriers. Calls to and from cell phones all along the east coast didn't go through (all circuits are busy) or were dropped shortly after connecting. There's no excuse for that, especially after the lessons of 9.11 and the blackout. Bad reviews for the carriers.
3. The NYC media is in a frenzy. It's August and they don't want to report on Libya - "We're saved! The earthquake has saved us!" I wish I could swear off watching the reports but it's going to be so much fun to hear about all the "close calls."
4. Californians - especially SoCal - you have my deepest respect. If that was a 5.8 (or 5.9) I can only imagine a 6.0 or 7.0 or stronger. Impressive you all seem to breeze through them.
OK, fun's over. Gotta get back to it. See you when I see you.
