OK, shoot me, I'm slacking this morning. Instead of my witty original thoughts, I'm giving you someone else's original thoughts (witty would be stretching the definition). Our CTO, Cameron Niles, spoke to John Brandon for a Processor Magazine "Hot To" article on wireless networks. It's a pretty comprehensive review packed into a few inches of print. Thought you'd like to take a gander at it (if you already haven't done so).

OK, so it's not a headline from the back page of the NY Post, but it got your attention, didn't it?
This is not my version of a virtual sandwich board proclaiming the end of the world, but in the first 21 days of 2010, I've already seen the definitive signs that our traditional business model (Syzygy 3 can be most closely associated with systems integrators) has come to an end. And you want to know the funny thing - we're the cause of the change.
Cameron, William, and I started Syzygy 3 almost six years ago with the mantra, "smart, not greedy." Well, by sticking to that code we have hastened the demise of our traditional business (equipment procurement, configuration, installation, and support). The meteoric rise of stable cloud computing applications (systems accessed via the Internet) has been a boon for our small- and mid-sized clients (SMBs). An Internet connection is all that is required now for them to access advanced voice, e-mail, business productivity systems, and numerous others. We saw this coming in 2004 with the growing adoption of hosted voice over IP (VOIP) services; but the clamor for the services just in the last three weeks has been astounding.
Now, this doesn't mean we're going out of business. While we're offering our own support services via the cloud, most SMBs will still require our expertise to choose the right solutions for their businesses. More importantly, though, the networks and Internet connections linking users with the cloud will be even more vital than they are now (and if you've been reading up on us, you know we're very good at networks). So there are still pieces of the traditional business that will remain, but in the long run, we'll become like the old manufacturer's reps. We will have a host of solutions to offer clients, and will work with them to develop the right ones.
Like all things in life, we've only partially prepared for this day. But we work so much better under the gun, so I suspect we're going to find a way to flourish in this new environment. Stay tuned for updates... and if you know anyone who's confused by all this, well we'll be happy to translate.

Dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies all over the NYC area are rejoicing because they're about to get some much needed help.
